Walking Nativity and Christingle

On the evening of 17th December, Branscombe CE school, along with their parents, friends, pets and neighbours from the village gathered for a very special event… A recreation of the Christmas Story, a walking nativity.

The group gathered outside of the village hall, dressed in costume with lanterns at the ready, to retell the special story that took place many, many years ago. The children led their ‘flock’ (including real sheep) through the village in torchlight to the church- telling the story, singing hymns and knocking on doors to see if there was “any room at the inn” before settling in the church for the remainder of the service. In the church, the children of the school shared the Christingles they had made and sang more hymns in the light of their Christingle candles.

It was a very special evening: spreading the important messages of that event, scattering joy across the village and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.
